My grandfather gifted me my very first pair of earrings when i little (even though they don't fit me anymore) i still have them and i would never ever think of selling them ...why ? Because that's just not a piece of metal or mere jewellery , that's the only memory I've of him...

My father on the other hand has his mother's silver anklets ( back in days they used to have really heavy anklets) someone in my family asked to sold them and divide the amount between the families and my father refused ... and i mockingly asked him - "mujhe shaadi mein yahi payal dene wale ho kya? " and he replied- "meri mmi ki payal h yeh, tumhe kyu dunga"

It's beautiful to see that men are also emotional when it comes to these things and do have some sentiments attached to a piece of jewelry, just like women.

I never thought of that. My family is from Bangladesh and my mum still has the jewellery from her mother and her siblings. I’m pretty sure the jewellery box also belonged to her mother and it’s still taped together.

I thought it was just me being possessive of my jewellery: my first watch, my baby earrings, my first chain. I never really considered how much gold could mean to any woman, and not just myself.
